Welcome to BitScan!
Monday 16 March 2015
Welcome to BitScan! My name’s Brandon, and I have somehow managed to snag a very exciting job as BitScan’s new editor. Since I started my career in crypto right here at BitScan a little over a year ago, it’s great to have been offered a bigger role as the site develops and kicks off its new strategy to build the bitcoin and wider crypto economy - and with it, a thriving and vibrant community of crypto evangelists.
Take a look at: my very first article for BitScan
First, a few words about me (don’t worry, I won’t be making a habit of this - after this it’s all about the crypto). I first dipped my toes into bitcoin's deep, occasionally murky but always intriguing waters at the very beginning of 2014, having glanced at the occasional story in the news over the past couple of years and thought I should take a closer look. Once I’d learned a little more, I was immediately hooked. Pretty soon I knew enough to start writing articles about various aspect of the bitcoin ecosystem, and it wasn’t long before I found that there was a demand for people who could take complex ideas and communicate them in a straightforward way. I became involved in several other major crypto projects, including Nxt, BTCD and SuperNET (you’ll be reading plenty more about all of those and various other initiatives in future posts). Along the way I’ve met some great people, seen the best and worst of what crypto has to offer, and learned an awful lot. I also know I’ve just scratched the surface.
Building the crypto-economy
When the position of BitScan’s editor became vacant and I was offered the job, I jumped on it. BitScan has been building its profile over the past 18 months or so and has become one of the biggest directories of bitcoin and crypto sites out there. Now, it’s time to push that up a gear. Over the coming weeks and months BitScan will be rolling out a programme of white label sites. Simply, crypto offers enormous advantages to merchants over a fiat model of business - including lower costs, fast transactions, easy access to an international market, and no chargebacks - but it can be a complicated business to set up a secure, usable site that accepts bitcoin payments.
BitScan will be addressing that gap by providing off-the-peg sites that only need to be customised and have a spreadsheet of inventory uploaded to them before they are ready to roll: a customer-ready crypto site in 20 minutes. There will be plenty of incentives for readers to spread the news and get in on the action.
To get the word out and help make BitScan the foremost hub for crypto commerce and activity, I’ll be overseeing a new drive to provide the community with interesting, insightful and entertaining material on a daily basis. There will be news, reviews, commentary, interviews, market reports and weekly round-ups, as well as a good few quirky and humorous bits and pieces you won’t find anywhere else.
And, of course, if you’ve got anything you’d like to add, please feel free to get in touch. We’re always on the lookout for a good story, a new angle or an inside track. Drop me a line at [email protected].
Stay tuned! It’s going to be fun.
